In general, the Serial Number of a Windows computer should be available on the sticker attached to the bottom of the Laptop or to the backside of a Desktop Computer. If the sticker has become faded, you may find it difficult. Your Machine ID is your Ethernet ID/MAC address. It consists of 6 pairs of numbers and letters A-F. You may see these pairs un-separated (d312a930bc7f), separated by colons (d3:12:a9:30:bc:7f) or separated by dashes (d3-12-a9-30-bc-7f). To find your Machine ID, please follow the steps below. Turn over your MacBook and find the serial number imprinted on the computer. Right below the bold text identifying what type of MacBook you are using, you will see a bunch of numbers including assembly location and a bunch of compliance/FCC information. On the second line of text, at the very end, you will see your serial number list. I have done a pretty fairly extensive search on the internet and can't seem to find the answer I want….Was hoping for a suggestion from one of you…
We are using 802.1x authentication on our cisco's and in order to distribute our iPads so that end user can just open it and put in their AD credentials and gain immediate access. In order for authentication to take place, we need to provide a .csv or similar type file to our Network engineers that they can pre-load into the ISE device containing the MAC addresses of all district owned equipment. For all the PC's already connected, we just used our Altiris product and pulled all that info easily enough.
For all the iPads in CARTs, I just used Apple Configurator to export a csv file for all of those…
Now we are getting 130 iPads in for principles etc… and many more to come (I'm sure) and I do not want to turn every one of these on just to write down a MAC address. I see that Apple places Serial number on the devices and was wondering if there was any location where I could obtain the MAC addresses associated with those serial numbers so that we could import them into the ISE system. Or do you have any other suggestions? We were not planning on plugging them in to configurator at all if possible, as this would add another step to process. We are planning to use a cloud based MDM product from LightSpeed. Once the devices have network connectivity, we can manage them completely from this product.
I would welcome any answer as to the easiest way to obtain these MAC id's or any concerns or thoughts you might have about the process we are using
Thanks, in advance….

Your Mac provides several tools to help you identify it. The simplest is About This Mac, available by choosing About This Mac from the Apple menu in the upper-left corner of your screen. The other is the System Information app. Learn how to use these tools to identify your Mac.
If you don’t have your Mac or it doesn’t start up, use one of these solutions instead:
- Find the serial number printed on the underside of your Mac, near the regulatory markings. It’s also on the original packaging, next to a barcode label. You can then enter that serial number on the Check Coverage page to find your model.
- The original packaging might also show an Apple part number, such as MMQA2xx/A (“xx” is a variable that differs by country or region). You can match the Apple part number to one in the list below to find your model.
